The Smash Remix mod for Super Smash Bros. added Sonic the Hedgehog as a warrior, with many of the same attacks he uses in later games.
A new mod of Super Smash Bros. added Sonic the Hedgehog to the game as a playable character. The mod is called Smash Remix and it added characters like Marth and Mewtwo to Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64.
The original Super Smash Bros. had only first-party Nintendo characters on its roster. It wasn’t until Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii, the series just started adding third-party characters. The first third-party characters in Super Smash Bros. are Sonic the Hedgehog and Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series. Over time, the series has added a number of popular third-party characters to the series, with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Steve from Minecraft, Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter and the Joker from Persona 5. Smash Remix added Ganondorf to the game, as well as characters like Lucas from Mother 3 and Wolf from Star Fox.
The Ver 1.1.0 release of Smash Remix has been released, and a new trailer on the Smash Remix YouTube channel has revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog has been added to the game. Sonic retains many of his moves from the official Super Smash Bros. games. , such as spring recovery and his Homing Attack. There is also a classic Sonic variant that can be selected as a character, and Super Sonic appears as an alternate boss in Remix mode.
Bowser has been a part of Smash Remix and he has been given a low-poly model to make the game run more smoothly when there are multiple characters in a match. The mod has added Green Hill Zone, Subcon, Metallic Madness Zone, Casino Night Zone and Pirate Land as new levels. The Home Run competition and Stamina Mode from later Super Smash Bros games are now part of Smash Remix. Options are now available that allow the character to start a match while holding an item, as well as spawn an item whenever performing a taunt. Finally, there are some minor bug fixes and adjustments to existing modes that were made in the Ver 1.1.0 update.

Sonic was one of the first third-party characters in the history of Super Smash Bros. , but he’s not the first third-party character added to Smash Remix. Conker is a fighter in Smash Remix and he is owned by Rare. It’s still weird to see Sonic in the game, since Super Smash Bros. existed at a time when Nintendo and Sega were still competing in the console market. Sonic never appeared in Super Smash Bros.
